What Makes Swavesey Special

The village has a rich history, being mentioned in the Domesday Book and having origins tied up with medieval estates, old churches, and even a priory

Strong volunteer involvement is very much part of life here. There are numerous clubs and societies: camera club, history society, quilting groups, community choir, WI, and more.

In 2019 local residents planted a heritage orchard on Church Green, off Station Road, with fruit trees provided by community and heritage lottery funding. A wildlife pond was added more recently to support local flora and fauna like great crested newts

Constable’s Rood is another example: a small piece of land once used by the village constable has been transformed into a wildlife garden and community space.
